Job Description: Senior Nurse - ICU at Manipal Hospitals

Are you an experienced and dedicated nurse looking for an opportunity to work in a dynamic and reputable healthcare facility Manipal Hospitals is seeking a Senior Nurse for our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to provide quality care and support to critically ill patients.

As a Senior Nurse in our ICU, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the unit, ensuring that all patients receive the highest level of care and attention. You will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, other nurses, and support staff, to create a safe and nurturing environment for patients and their families.

  • Pre-Procedure Patient Care:

  • Assess patients physical and emotional status prior to procedures.
  • Review patient medical history, medications, and allergies.
  • Provide patient education and address concerns regarding procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, including site preparation and IV insertion.
  • Intra-Procedure Patient Care:

  • Monitor patients vital signs and hemodynamic status during procedures.
  • Administer medications and IV fluids as directed by the physician.
  • Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures, including coronary angiography, angioplasty, and stent placement.
  • Operate and troubleshoot cath lab equipment.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
  • Anticipate the needs of the physician and patient during procedures.
  • Post-Procedure Patient Care:

  • Monitor patients recovery and assess for complications.
  • Provide wound care and manage access sites.
  • Administer post-procedure medications and provide patient education.
  • Document patient care and procedure details accurately and completely.
  • Ensure a smooth and safe patient discharge.
  • Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Serve as a role model and mentor to junior cath lab staff.
  • Assist with staff training and development.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and process development.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Equipment and Supplies Management:

  • Ensure the availability and proper functioning of cath lab equipment.
  • Monitor inventory and ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and infection control practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State].
  • Minimum of [Number] years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Cath Lab setting.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
