Senior Nurse IVF department

Job Summary

The Senior Nurse will be responsible for overseeing nursing care in the IVF unit, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality while providing specialized nursing support in fertility treatments. The role requires hands-on clinical expertise, leadership in guiding junior nurses, and coordination with doctors, embryologists, and counselors to ensure smooth patient care and treatment cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

• Assist doctors during OPD, ovum pick-up (OPU), embryo transfer (ET), intrauterine insemination (IUI), and other IVF-related procedures.
  
• Monitor patient vitals and provide pre- and post-procedure care.
  
• Administer injections, medications, and hormonal therapies as per protocols.
  
• Maintain aseptic techniques and assist in operation theatre/IVF lab-related procedures.
  
• Provide patient education on treatment plans, medication schedules, and self-injection techniques.
  

Patient Care & Coordination:

• Act as the first point of contact for IVF patients, addressing queries with empathy and professionalism.
  
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive reproductive health information with discretion.
  
• Guide patients throughout the IVF cycle, ensuring adherence to medical instructions.
  

Administrative & Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervise and mentor junior nurses and support staff in the IVF department.
  
• Ensure proper documentation, consent forms, and medical records are maintained.
  
• Coordinate with pharmacy, lab, and admin departments for smooth patient flow.
  
• Monitor inventory and ensure availability of drugs, disposables, and emergency supplies.
  

Quality & Compliance:

• Adhere to hospital protocols, NABH/ICMR guidelines, and infection control practices.
  
• Participate in audits, training, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  
• Ensure patient safety, ethical practices, and compliance with statutory regulations.
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Education:

  B.Sc. Nursing / GNM with valid nursing registration.

• Experience:

  Minimum 57 years of nursing experience, with at least 2–3 years in IVF, OT, or critical care.

• Skills:

• Strong knowledge of IVF procedures and reproductive health nursing.
  
• Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
  
• Leadership and team management abilities.
  
• Proficiency in handling emergencies and critical care situations.
