Senior Mechantronics Engineer - Part Time

As a senior mechatronics brain at the company, you will be responsible for straddling mechanical design, electronics, embedded systems, and software in the development of AI-orchestrated inspection systems for wind turbines and heavy industrial assets. Your role, which is part-time, will involve solving real engineering problems without the need for corporate therapy sessions. Key Responsibilities: - Design, refine, and validate mechanical systems for robotic inspection tools such as arms, end-effectors, and UT tooling - Lead system-level mechatronics architecture encompassing mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software components - Collaborate with AI and robotics teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration - Rapidly build, test, break, and fix prototypes - Provide support for field testing with Wind World India and other partners - Ensure robust designs suitable for outdoor, tower-top, high-vibration environments like wind turbines Qualifications Required: - Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including mechanisms, actuators, materials, with a bonus of FEM knowledge - Proficiency in embedded systems, motor control, and mechatronics integration - Hands-on experience with prototyping methods such as CNC, 3D printing, and rapid fabrication - Firmware experience with microcontrollers like Arduino, STM, ESP, or ROS2 - Ability to write software for robots, preferably in C++ or Python - Experience with robots, manipulators, or industrial automation - Comfort working on safety-critical hardware - Collaboration skills with AI software teams Preferred Skills (But Not Mandatory): - Background in wind energy, aerospace, or industrial automation - ROS2 experience - Experience in transitioning R&D hardware to production readiness In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to building robotic systems deployed in wind turbines across various regions.
