Job Description

As the Senior Manager Tax NFR at HSBC, your role will involve working with the Tax teams in the Controllership function to manage the Tax and associated reporting risk owned within Finance. Given the increasing focus on tax reporting and new requirements such as the Global Minimum Tax, it is crucial that the control environment is robust to meet these demands. Your primary responsibilities will include providing first-line Tax risk support within Finance, monitoring risks, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders such as Risk Stewards, Internal Audit, and External Auditors. You will report functionally to the Global Head of Finance NFR. **Principal Responsibilities:** - Advise, challenge, and support the Controllership team on effective risk management, including reviewing and reporting on the Tax risk position. - Provide subject matter expertise for execution of Risk and Control Assessments (RCAs) and setting appropriate Control Monitoring Plans (CMPs). - Define and drive independent Finance control testing activities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. - Improve process and control design within Tax processes and provide control advice to change projects. - Ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework NFR within Finance and promote a positive risk culture. - Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, presenting relevant materials at governance meetings. **Accountabilities for Business, Customers, and Stakeholders:** - Work closely with senior Finance stakeholders and liaise with the Global Financial Reporting and Tax Risk Steward team. - Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders to ensure confidence in output integrity and commitment towards control. **Leadership & Teamwork:** - Foster collaboration across Finance with a culture of One Team. - Drive high standards of delivery, early issue identification, and timely remedial action. - Provide strong leadership through effective communication, performance management, and talent development. - Promote a culture of continuous innovation, learning, and development. **Operational Effectiveness & Control:** - Provide oversight to ensure controls operate robustly and meet audit and regulatory expectations. - Anticipate and mitigate operational risk in a cost-effective manner. - Drive standardization and effectiveness within the team, participating in Non-financial Risk Assessment. **Observation of Internal Controls:** - Maintain HSBC internal control standards and comply with Global Principles, Policies, and Procedures. - Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and enforce reporting sites compliance. **Requirements:** - Strong written and oral communication skills in English and local language. - Understanding of Tax, Financial Accounting processes, and control frameworks. - Ability to analyze unstructured problems and develop effective working relationships with stakeholders.
