Senior Manager - MMD (NPD)

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end material management for new product development projects from concept to SOP (Start of Production).
• Collaborate closely with Design, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams for smooth product industrialization.
• Review technical drawings, BOMs, and material specifications for new components.
• Drive cost optimization initiatives during NPD by effective sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations.
• Ensure on-time

  PPAP

  , APQP, and proto part delivery.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies for plastics, injection molding, and stamping components.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors/suppliers for critical components.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and long-term contracts with suppliers to ensure cost competitiveness and supply stability.
• Strong understanding of injection molding, plastic materials, and sheet metal stamping processes.
• Work with tooling, mold, and die vendors for new development and engineering changes.
• Review tool design and feasibility for manufacturability.
• Participate in VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) and continuous improvement projects.

Preferred candidate profile

• B. E / B. Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering
• 1218 years of experience in Materials / SCM / NPD in Auto Components or Tier-1 Automotive Manufacturing companies.
• Proven experience in handling new product launches and supplier development for plastic and sheet metal parts.
• Strong expertise in New Product Development in the automotive domain.
• Hands-on experience in Injection Molding, Plastics, and Stamping.
• Proficiency in Vendor Development and Procurement Management.
• Excellent project management and leadership skills.
• Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and cost management.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Knowledge of ERP systems SAP preferred.
