Senior Lead Site Reliability Engineer

As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking, you will collaborate with your fellow stakeholders to define non-functional requirements (NFRs) and availability targets for the services in your application and product lines. Your role involves ensuring that these NFRs are incorporated into the design and testing phases of your products, effectively measuring customer experience through service level indicators, and defining service level objectives in collaboration with stakeholders for implementation in production. Your key responsibilities include creating high-quality designs, roadmaps, and program charters, providing guidance and mentoring to other engineers, and serving as a valuable resource for technologists seeking advice on technical and business-related matters. You are expected to demonstrate site reliability principles and practices daily, advocating for the adoption of site reliability within your team. Additionally, collaborating with others to design and implement observability and reliability solutions for complex systems that are robust, stable, and free from additional toil or technical debt is a crucial aspect of your role. You will work towards becoming an expert on the applications and platforms within your domain, understanding their interdependencies and limitations, and evolving and debugging critical components as needed. Providing ongoing guidance, tools, and solutions to support the firm's growth is another important aspect of your role, along with making significant contributions to JPMorgan Chase's site reliability community through internal forums, communities of practice, guilds, and conferences. To be successful in this role, you are required to have formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with over 15 years of applied experience. Additionally, you should have at least 2 years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical challenges within your area of expertise. Advanced knowledge in site reliability culture and principles, including the ability to implement site reliability within an application or platform, is essential. You should also possess advanced knowledge and experience in observability, encompassing white and black box monitoring, service level objectives, alerting, and telemetry collection using tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, and Splunk. Proficiency in software applications, technical processes, complex data reporting and visualization methods, and strong communication skills are key requirements for this role. Furthermore, you should be recognized as an active contributor to the engineering community, expanding your network and leading evaluation sessions with vendors to align offerings with the firm's strategy. Your experience with various technologies such as AWS storage, Snowflake, event-based architectures, Kubernetes, ETL tools, streaming services, and cloud-based architecture for data and analytics will be beneficial in this role.
