Description
As an Engineer on the Engineering Systems Tools team at our California-based client, you will play a crucial role in building and operating internal tooling and infrastructure that supports thousands of developers within the company. Your main objective will be to enhance developer efficiency through automation, self-service platforms, and seamless provisioning. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of core platforms including JIRA, Confluence, GitHub Enterprise, Artifactory, SonarQube, Gradle, and Airtable, as well as develop custom applications tailored to internal engineering workflows. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining full-stack internal tooling and platforms that aim to improve engineering productivity and automation. Your tasks will include developing and supporting RESTful APIs, microservices, and front-end interfaces that integrate with both third-party and custom-built tools. Additionally, you will operate and scale cloud-based infrastructure across GCP, AWS, and Azure, contributing to infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring. The team is actively investing in container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and service automation to modernize the technology stack. You will be involved in implementing and supporting Kubernetes-based containerization workflows, automating infrastructure and operations using tools like Terraform, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines, and troubleshooting performance and reliability issues across the stack. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, as you will work closely with product owners, site reliability engineers, and developers to continuously improve platform usability and reliability. You will also contribute to architectural decisions, technical design reviews, and code reviews, while mentoring junior team members where applicable. To be successful in this position, you should have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering and platform operations in a large-scale or enterprise environment. Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or Golang are required, with a bonus for front-end experience in React, Angular, or similar technologies. Experience in designing, deploying, and managing applications in Kubernetes and Dockerized environments is essential, as well as a solid background in multi-cloud architecture and automation across GCP, AWS, or Azure. Familiarity with internal developer platforms and tools such as JIRA, GitHub, Artifactory, SonarQube, and related systems is preferred. Additionally, experience with monitoring/logging stacks like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar, as well as infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, will be beneficial. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across distributed systems, APIs, and infrastructure layers are also required.
