JOB DESCRIPTION Department : Maintenance - Controls Designation: Senior Engineer Qualification: BE (EEE / ECE / E&I) Preferred industry: Automotive Industries Experience : Min 6 to 10 years of confirmed service after completing Degree Location Chennai Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities: Performance Testers: Designing and Development with NI h/w + LabView s/w (Project Management, Programming, System Design, and Hardware Integration). Proficiency in handling NI data acquisition systems (CompactRIO, CompactDAQ, PXI, PCI & USB DAQ). Troubleshooting CNC machines with Fanuc (0iTF/0i-TD Series) and Siemens (840D/828D Series) controllers. Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC, & MicroLogix series), Siemens (S7-300, S7-1200 & S7-1500), Mitsubishi (FX & Q series), and Omron (NX & NJ series) PLCs. Programming knowledge in Siemens Simatic Manager, Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell RS Logix 5000 & 500, Mitsubishi GX Developer, Omron Sysmac Studio, and Proface GP-Pro. Hands-on experience with Electric nut runners (Desoutter & Bosch Rexroth), Vision systems (Cognex & Keyence), Decal printers, PID controllers, etc. Knowledge of computer hardware and hard disk cloning software. In-depth knowledge of VFD and servo drives, Troubleshooting of PCBs. Maintenance knowledge of presses, index tables, conveyors, ovens, etc. Supervisory skills for managing technicians. Strong basic engineering knowledge and analytical skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. Exposure to 5S practices and Why-Why analysis for root cause finding. Awareness of industrial safety practices. Basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics. Typical Duties: Overseeing the smooth functioning of the controls function. Planning and supervising the day-to-day activities of controls technicians. Reviewing and scheduling planned and corrective maintenance activities for controls. Handling machine upgrade projects. Analysing breakdowns, identifying root causes, and planning kaizen initiatives. Preparing departmental metrics for monthly reviews. Communicating with suppliers for sourcing OEM/equivalent machine spares. Handling internal customer relations with departments like manufacturing, quality, and safety regarding machine-related issues. Designing and implementing improvements and poka-yokes. Initiating spare cost-saving activities. Coordinating in-house or external servicing of failed machine spare parts. Identifying improvement points to enhance MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) of machines.
