Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  1. You will be working on Advanced Algorithm Development: Design, implement, and validate motor control strategies for various EV motor types (e.g., PMSM, SRM).
  2. Implementing and optimizing high-efficiency control strategies such as Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA).
  3. Developing and tuning Field Weakening Control for extended high-speed vehicle operation.
  4. Integrating Sensorless Control techniques (e.g., sliding mode observers, Luenberger observers) for rotor position and speed estimation.
  5. Developing and deploying real-time Parameter Estimation routines (e.g., flux linkage, resistance) for improved accuracy across temperature and operating conditions.
  6. Hardware Implementation: Work extensively with TI C2000 Delfino/Piccolo microcontrollers (e.g., TMS320F2837x) to implement and test complex motor control strategies.
  7. Software Development: Utilize Model-Based Design (MBD) and automatic code generation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE) to rapidly prototype and deploy control software, ensuring code efficiency and adherence to industry standards.
  8. System Integration: Integrate motor control software with power electronics (inverters), vehicle control units (VCU), and other subsystems via protocols like CAN.
  9. Testing and Validation: Conduct comprehensive unit, integration, and HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing; perform dynamometer and on-vehicle calibration and validation to ensure performance, efficiency, and robustness.
  10. Debugging and Optimization: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to motor performance, sensor feedback, and power electronics; optimize control parameters for efficiency, dynamic response, and Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) performance.
  11. Safety and Standards: Ensure designs comply with relevant automotive functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).

Ideal Candidate

  1. Education: Bachelors or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in developing motor control systems for electric vehicles or similar high-power applications.
  3. Mandatory hands-on experience with Texas Instruments (TI) C2000 microcontrollers (e.g., TMS320F2837x, F28004x) for real-time control applications.
  4. Proven expertise in Model-Based Design and automatic code generation using tools like MATLAB/Simulink (including Embedded Coder).
  5. Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of advanced motor control techniques, including FOC, MTPA, and Field Weakening.
  6. Experience with Sensorless Control techniques and/or real-time parameter estimation.
  7. Strong background in power electronics topologies (e.g., three-phase inverters) and gate driver control.
  8. Technical Skills:
  9. Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
  10. Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
  11. Knowledge of control system stability analysis and digital signal processing (DSP) for control loops.
  12. Preferred Qualifications
  13. Experience with functional safety concepts and the ISO 26262 standard.
  14. Familiarity with automotive development processes and tools (e.g., version control, requirements management).
  15. Prior experience in optimizing motor control for high-speed operation and maximum efficiency.
