Job Title: Senior Engineer – Mechanical (Erection & Commissioning) Department: Projects / Engineering Location: Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh Experience Required: Minimum 10 Years Industry: Thermal Power – Project Execution Reporting To: Project Manager / Engineering Head Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Erection and Commissioning of Thermal Power Plants. The candidate must have hands-on expertise in mechanical systems, including piping, Ash Handling Plant (AHP), pressure parts, and structural erection, with a solid understanding of power plant construction and commissioning standards. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and execute mechanical erection and commissioning activities for thermal power plant systems including AHP, piping, ducts, tanks, and mechanical auxiliaries. • Review and validate engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, equipment layout plans, and ensure alignment with site conditions. • Supervise and coordinate contractors and subcontractors for mechanical works, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. • Monitor daily progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective measures to meet schedules. • Oversee hydro testing, flushing, air-blowing, alignment, welding, and NDT activities. • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (civil, electrical, C&I) for smooth and synchronized project execution. • Assist in pre-commissioning and commissioning of mechanical systems; prepare and execute test protocols and commissioning checklists. • Ensure compliance with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures and statutory safety regulations. • Maintain proper documentation including erection reports, commissioning logs, punch lists, and handover documents. • Liaise with design/engineering teams and consultants for technical clarifications and design modifications, if required. • Train junior engineers and technicians; promote safety and engineering best practices on-site. Desired Profile: • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma with extensive experience may be considered). • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in erection and commissioning of thermal power plant mechanical systems. • In-depth knowledge of thermal power plant mechanical systems, erection methods, and commissioning protocols. • Strong experience in pipe design, fabrication, installation, and testing. • Familiarity with AHP systems, pressure parts, tanks, ducts, and large rotating equipment. • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications. • Hands-on experience with project documentation, contractor coordination, and site management. • Strong communication, team coordination, and problem-solving abilities. • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD (basic), and project monitoring tools.
