Senior Engineer, Firmware Engineering

Job Description The Firmware Design Engineer is a part of the Product design & development organization. The successful candidate will excel at problem solving and critical thinking at the system level to enable the investigation, planning, and implementation of test systems and methods, vet architectural direction and provide practical implementation methods, as well as provide overall system guidance that enables Western Digital to produce the best enterprise SSDs in the storage market. As part of a broad cross-functional team, the candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of product system development. Responsibilities Help identify and fill system gaps in products to ensure all teams output integrate in an optimal manner. Vet architectural decisions and directions and provide practical implementation methods that span a variety of potential products related to a platform. Devise experiments and critically evaluate test results. Effectively document work, the results of experiments, and conclusions drawn, as well as provide training documentation for system tools. Use broad skill base to support the above activities. These skills include hardware design and analysis, diagnostic and application software and firmware development, data analysis and reporting. Apply critical thinking to competitive analysis results/data and provide product development guidance.
