Senior Engineer - Control & Instrumentation (F&G)

Role Overview: As a Design and Implementation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing fire and gas detection systems tailored to gas plant specifications and industry standards. You will also oversee the compliance and safety aspects of these systems, lead projects related to their installation and upgrade, and maintain detailed documentation and reporting. Key Responsibilities: - Develop fire and gas detection systems design according to gas plant specifications and industry standards - Prepare detailed design documents such as Design Specification, Cause and Effects diagram, Functional diagram, F&G layout, Fire and Gas Philosophy, and more - Select suitable instruments for hazardous applications - Conduct inter-discipline reviews of deliverables from other departments - Produce Material requisitions and contribute to Technical Bid evaluation - Implement control systems for fire and gas detection ensuring seamless integration with existing safety systems - Ensure compliance with relevant UK safety standards and regulations for gas plants - Conduct safety audits and risk assessments specific to gas plant environments - Lead projects related to the installation and upgrade of fire and gas detection systems in gas plants - Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success in gas plant settings - Maintain detailed records of system designs, installations, maintenance activities, and compliance checks - Provide regular reports on system performance, incidents, and improvements to management - Provide coaching and mentoring as delegated - Adhere to discipline-specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement - Support the development and delivery of technical safety standards and technical assurance - Participate in audits and incident investigations as required - Actively maintain own competence and pursue continuous development - Provide discipline support to the business - Ensure awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives, and industry technology developments - Execute assigned work tasks and personal objectives - Interact with Multi-Discipline Engineering teams Qualifications Required: - Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and managing fire and gas detection systems in gas plant settings - Strong knowledge of UK safety standards and regulations related to fire and gas detection - Formal training in Engineering design software packages - Exposure to design concepts using 3D software and familiar with Detronics systems - Intellectually capable with the ability to apply theory in a practical context - Proficient in discipline software and encourage development - Familiarity with installation/administration, integration tools, CAD packages, review packages, model management, and catalogues - Strong interpersonal skills and team working capabilities - Enthusiastic, conscientious, and keen to learn - Flexible with a can-do attitude - Competent in the execution of standards, processes, and procedures for operations excellence - Knowledgeable about regulatory frameworks, legislation, and industry technology developments within discipline - Continual professional development in communication skills, audit participation, and incident investigations Company Details: Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, providing solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
