Job Description

You will be responsible for the design and implementation of fire and gas detection systems tailored to gas plant specifications and industry standards. Your duties will include preparing detailed design documents, selecting suitable instruments for hazardous applications, and implementing control systems for fire and gas detection to ensure seamless integration with existing plant safety systems. Key Responsibilities: - Develop fire and gas detection systems design according to gas plant specifications and industry standards - Prepare detailed design documents such as Cause and Effects diagram, Functional diagram, F&G layout, Fire and Gas Philosophy, Instrument specification, BOM, etc. - Select suitable instruments for hazardous applications - Review deliverables from other departments - Produce Material requisition and contribute to Technical Bid evaluation - Review Vendor Drawing and consolidate comments - Implement control systems for fire and gas detection - Ensure compliance with relevant UK safety standards and regulations - Conduct safety audits and risk assessments specific to gas plant environments - Lead projects related to the installation and upgrade of fire and gas detection systems - Coordinate with cross-functional teams for project success - Maintain detailed records of system designs, installations, and maintenance activities - Provide regular reports on system performance, incidents, and improvements - Provide coaching and mentoring as delegated - Adhere to discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement - Support the development and delivery of technical safety standards - Participate in audits & incident investigations - Maintain competence and continuous development in own discipline - Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains competence according to standards - Provide discipline support to the business - Interact with Multi-Discipline Engineering teams Qualifications Required: - Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and managing fire and gas detection systems in gas plant settings - Strong knowledge of UK safety standards and regulations related to fire and gas detection - Formal training in Engineering design software packages - Exposure to design concepts using 3D software and familiar with Detronics systems - Experienced at working with all disciplines and departments to help meet deadlines About Wood: Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, providing solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
