Senior Director, Data Science

As a Senior Director Data Science at Albertsons Companies Inc., you will play a crucial role in optimizing operations and processes in the Farm to Shelf transformation area. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Setting the vision and roadmap for a team of data scientists to build capabilities in end-to-end demand forecasting, inventory optimization, store and warehouse replenishment, and AI frameworks. - Leading efforts to convert multiple point solutions into connected data science and AI solutions at scale. - Connecting merchandising planning, supply chain operations, promotions, pricing, clearance, and S&OP through common forecasts. - Optimizing inventory policies across the supply chain and stores network to minimize out-of-stocks and maximize efficiency. - Building and leading high-performing teams of data scientists, providing technical and thought leadership in data science. - Using machine learning to solve customer problems and deliver personalized experiences for large-scale applications in real-time. Experience Required: - An advanced degree in a STEM field is preferred. - 5+ years of management experience in building and leading data science teams. - Specific experience in the retail and grocery industry, including supply chain optimization, merchandising, pricing, digital/e-commerce, and customer analytics. - Product thinking and expertise in systems design. - Business acumen and retail understanding. - Track record of guiding teams through technical problems to deliver business impact. Skills Required: - Machine learning, deep learning, applied optimization, Python, SQL, AI/machine learning tools, systems design, analytics across functions. - Strong cross-functional relationship management and executive communication skills. Preferred Skills: - Big data platforms (Snowflake, Spark, Hadoop), data engineering, MLOps, model life cycle management, experimental design, strategic retail and grocery analytics expertise.
