Senior Db2 Database Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain

  DB2 subsystems

  on z/OS.
• Perform

  DB2 system programming

  tasks including subsystem initialization, buffer pool tuning, logging setup, and storage management.
• Manage and support

  IBM IDAA (IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator)

  including integration, performance tuning, workload configuration, and problem resolution.
• Architect and implement

  DB2 and IMS database solutions

  for high availability, resilience, and scalability.
• Oversee

  IMS DB/DC and IMS DB2 integration

  environments.
• Troubleshoot system-level issues related to DB2, IMS, z/OS, IDAA, RACF, and related middleware.
  
• Plan and execute

  DB2 migration, version upgrades, maintenance, PTFs, and APARs

  .
• Perform

  performance analysis

  using RMF, OMEGAMON, Mainview, and DB2 performance tools.
• Work closely with application teams for

  SQL analysis, query optimization, and schema design

  .
• Manage backup/restore, disaster recovery, and system recovery processes.
  
• Ensure compliance with

  security, audit, and regulatory requirements

  on mainframe systems.
• Support capacity planning and infrastructure architecture for DB2 and IMS environments.
  

Required Skills:

• Strong experience in

  DB2 System Programming on z/OS

  .
• Hands-on expertise with

  IDAA administration

  and workload setup.
• Deep understanding of

  IMS DB, IMS TM, IMS DB2 interdependencies

  .
• Proficiency in

  JCL, REXX, SMP/E, z/OS utilities, and automation tools

  .
• Experience with

  data sharing, sysplex, performance tuning, buffer pool management

  .
• Knowledge of

  Mainframe security (RACF)

  and storage management (SMS).
• Strong problem-solving skills in

  high-availability mainframe environments

  .

Experience Required:

• 815+ years

  in Mainframe DB2 / IMS / IDAA system programming or architecture.
• Prior experience in enterprise-level

  mainframe modernization, optimization, or migration projects

  .

Preferred:

• IBM Certified DB2 for z/OS Database Administrator or System Administrator.
  
• Experience with

  Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D)

  or Db2 Analytics Accelerator enhancements.
