Senior Database Migration Engineer

Guidewire is seeking a collaborative, proactive, and results-oriented Database Migration Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will be involved in the migration of customers" databases to Guidewire's Cloud Platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing data transfer, runtime database performance, migration dry runs/rehearsals, production go-lives, data validation assistance for customers, and developing automation tools for migration activities. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience, along with at least 5 years of experience in database engineering, including a minimum of 2 years in data migration. Experience in migrating data to Aurora Postgres or PostgreSQL, migrating data from Oracle and/or SQL Server, Postgres database optimization, cloud services (AWS, Azure, etc), data replication tools (MS SQL Server transactional replication, Oracle Golden Gate, AWS DMS, etc), UNIX general administration skills, ANSI SQL Language, and network connectivity and troubleshooting is required. Desired experience includes familiarity with infrastructure management tools like Terraform, programming languages such as Java, C, Kotlin, Go, Jira, Salesforce for managing work requests, and source control systems like Git. Additionally, personal qualities and soft skills such as a strong work ethic, positive attitude, commitment to customers and colleagues, effective communication, and willingness to learn and collaborate are highly valued.
