POSITION INFORMATION SUMMARY: The Senior Database Engineer (MS SQL) role is to perform job functions that support the advanced use of data and data structures within the organization, including development, maintenance, and basic DBA activities for all corporate databases. It is expected that the individual in this role use strong SQL skills to synthesize complex FineLine data structures for report writing, data warehouse development, and data transformations. Additionally, a key focus for this role is to ensure that databases are running optimally and to ensure high data availability to the end user. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES: Database Design & Development: Design and develop database structures, including tables, views, indexes, and schemas. Write, debug, and maintain complex stored procedures, functions, and triggers. Create scalable database architectures to meet business and application needs. SQL Development & Optimization: Develop high-quality SQL queries and scripts to support application functionality and reporting needs. Optimize SQL code and stored procedures for speed and efficiency, particularly for large tables with millions of records. Monitor database code delivery to ensure performance and adherence to best practices. Performance Optimization: Perform query performance tuning, index optimization, and data model refinement. Utilize tools such as SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, etc. to troubleshoot performance issues. Data Warehousing & ETL: Design and implement data warehousing solutions using Star Schema and other methodologies. Develop, deploy, and maintain ETL/SSIS packages for data integration and transformation workflows. Best Practices & Security Standards: Implement and enforce coding best practices for SQL development. Ensure compliance with security standards to protect sensitive data and prevent vulnerabilities. Database Administration: Ensure database security, backups, and disaster recovery readiness. Set up and manage replication and high-availability solutions for critical databases. Collaboration & Troubleshooting: Collaborate with application development teams to integrate database solutions seamlessly. Diagnose and resolve database issues, ensuring system reliability and uptime. Delivers solutions in an agile, fast-moving work environment. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned POSITION TYPE/REQUIRED HOURS OF WORK: Full-time; provide 3 hours of coverage overlap with US EST time zone M-F Office Time: 12 PM to 9 PM IST Location: Perungudi, Chennai, India QUALIFICATIONS: Required: B. E/ B. Tech - Computer Major, M. E/ M. Tech - Computer Major, MCA 9 to 14 years of experience in MS SQL Server database development and administration. Proficiency in SQL programming, including writing and optimizing complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers. Hands-on experience in Data Warehousing and designing solutions using Star Schema. Proficient in ETL processes and SSIS package development. Solid experience in query performance tuning and database optimization techniques. Ability to monitor and optimize database code for large-scale data tables. Knowledge of database replication, high-availability setups, and disaster recovery planning. Familiarity with SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, and other performance analysis tools. Expertise in implementing coding standards and ensuring compliance with security best practices.
