Senior Database and Java Engineer

As a Senior Database Engineer at SmartStream, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team as we embark on an exciting journey to innovate and maintain our industry-leading position in servicing the world's top banks and asset managers. With product development centres in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Bristol, we are constantly evolving and adopting agile and extreme practices to build modern software solutions. Your primary role will involve database analysis, design, and performance implementation. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining database solutions using Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. Optimizing complex stored procedures and queries for high performance, performing data migration and transformation tasks, and troubleshooting database-related issues will also be key aspects of your responsibilities. Collaboration with development teams to integrate database solutions with applications, providing technical support and training, monitoring database performance, ensuring security and compliance, as well as designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications will all be part of your daily tasks. Your expertise in Java 17, along with your strong proficiency in Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL will be crucial for success in this role. Additionally, your ability to write and optimize stored procedures and complex queries, experience with data migration projects, excellent problem-solving skills, and attention to detail will be highly valued. Good communication skills and a background in Computer Science or Information Technology will further enhance your contribution to our diverse teams in Mumbai/Bangalore development centre. Desirable skills such as understanding of finance business and software, familiarity with Spring Framework, Spring Boot Microservices, Git, Maven, Jenkins Pipelines, REST, Swagger/OpenAPI, containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift, and Angular will be advantageous. With 10+ years of relevant experience in databases and 5+ years in Java development, you will play a key role in driving continuous improvements and collaborating cross-functionally to achieve elegant solutions.
