Responsibilities of a Senior Data Architect

1.

• Define and lead the design of scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures aligned with business objectives.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions using platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, and other cloud-native services.

2. Platform Integration & Data Modeling

• Architect ETL/ELT pipelines, data marts, semantic layers, and APIs to enable consistent and efficient data access across enterprise systems.
• Design and implement data virtualization, data-as-a-service models, and integration patterns for organization-wide data consumption.

3. Governance & Compliance

• Work closely with Enterprise Architecture and Governance teams to ensure adherence to security, privacy, and compliance standards.
• Own requirement assessments for foundational components including data ingestion patterns and unified data models (UDM).

4. Tool & Technology Selection

• Evaluate, select, and recommend analytics tools, frameworks, and platforms based on scalability, performance, and alignment with business needs.

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

• Serve as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring strategic alignment throughout the architecture lifecycle.
• Lead design reviews and provisioning processes with cross-functional teams such as Platform, Enterprise Architecture (EA), and Centers of Excellence (COE).

6. Innovation & Proof-of-Concept (POC) Leadership

• Guide and evaluate POCs for AI/ML and BI initiatives, ensuring adherence to best practices prior to production deployment.

7. Review & Quality Assurance

• Participate in architecture and design review gates (Pre-Development & Pre-Production) to validate solution integrity, scalability, and compliance.

Key Skills Required

• Strong expertise in Data Modeling & Database Design (relational and NoSQL)
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Java
• Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Deep understanding of Security & Compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, encryption standards)
• Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving capability
• Experience working with Data Lakes, particularly Snowflake
• Minimum 8+ years of experience as a Data Architect
