Senior Control & Instrumentation Designer

Role & responsibilities

1. Engineering Design & Documentation

• Develop and review

  Instrumentation Design Basis

  ,

  Control Philosophy

  , and

  Cause & Effect (C&E) diagrams

  .
• Prepare and check

  P&IDs

  , ensuring correct representation of instruments, interlocks, trips, and control loops.
• Generate detailed engineering deliverables:
• Instrument Index / I/O List
• Instrument Datasheets (transmitters, analyzers, control valves, switches, MOVs, etc.)
• Cable Block Diagrams / Interconnection Drawings
• Loop Diagrams
• Wiring Diagrams
• Hook-up drawings
• JB / Marshalling panel design
• Location plans & installation layouts
• Develop

  Instrument Specification Sheets

  and

  Material Requisitions (MRs)

  .
• Review vendor drawings for analyzers, control valves, packages, FG systems, BMS,PLC panels, etc.

2. Calculations & Technical Analysis

• Perform

  instrument sizing

  calculations for:
• Control valves
• Relief valve instrumentation
• Flow elements (orifice plate, pitot tube, vortex, coriolis, etc.)
• Pressure/temperature/level instruments
• Perform cable sizing and voltage drop calculations.
• Ensure compliance with ISA, IEC, ATEX, NEC, API, and company standards.

3. Project Management & Coordination

• Coordinate with

  process, electrical, mechanical, piping, civil

  , and

  automation

  teams.
• Track project progress, manage deliverable schedules, and ensure quality.
• Ensure compliance with HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and SIL studies.
• Provide C&I inputs to 3D model reviews (30%, 60%, 90%).

4. Safety, Compliance & Documentation Control

• Ensure designs comply with

  HSE, SIL, ATEX/IECEx

  , hazardous area classification.
• Generate:
• Hazardous area layouts
• Intrinsically safe (IS) loop design
• EMC/EMI considerations
• Proper documentation control & adherence to company and client standards.

5. Leadership & Mentoring

• Guide and mentor junior designers/engineers.
• Perform internal design reviews & quality checks.
• Represent C&I discipline in client meetings and technical workshops.
