Job Summary

Senior Cognos Developer

This role is ideal for professionals passionate about BI, analytics, data modeling, performance tuning, and delivering high-quality reporting systems within a fast-paced product organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement

  enterprise-grade Cognos reporting and analytics solutions

  .
• Build

  scalable and reusable Cognos Framework Manager models

  (dimensional & relational).
• Develop

  complex reports, dashboards, scorecards, paginated and parameterized reports

  .
• Perform

  performance tuning

  of Cognos reports, models, and queries.
• Analyze business requirements and convert them into robust BI solutions.
  
• Ensure secure BI solutions using

  Cognos roles, groups, and row-level security

  .
• Collaborate closely with product owners, business analysts, data engineering teams, and QA.
  
• Conduct root cause analysis for BI issues and support production operations.
  
• Drive

  standardization, automation

  , and adoption of BI best practices.
• Contribute to innovation, knowledge sharing, and establishing Cognos expertise across teams.
  

Must Have Skills

• 46 years of hands-on Cognos development

  experience.
• Strong experience with:
  
• IBM

  Cognos Analytics 11.x

• Cognos Framework Manager (FM)

• Dimensional & relational data modeling
  

• Cognos Report Studio

  , dashboards, interactive visualizations
• Proven experience building:
  
• Complex dashboards, reports, scorecards
  
• Drill-down, drill-through, and parameterized reports
  
• Strong SQL skills with database experience in

  SQL Server, Oracle, DB2

  , etc.
• Understanding of:
  
• Star & snowflake schemas
  
• BI semantic layer modeling
  
• Import/live data connections
  
• Experience working with

  security models

• Knowledge of BI development

• Experience with

• Deliver scalable, high-performance Cognos BI solutions aligned with product needs.
  
• Conduct performance optimization and tuning across BI components.
  
• Work with stakeholders to translate business problems into technical BI solutions.
  
• Perform RCA for BI/data issues and resolve production defects.
  
• Collaborate with Tech Leads to convert technical specs into structured implementations.
  
• Promote best practices, automation, and standardized development workflows within BI teams.
