Senior Back End Developer

As a Backend Developer at Fundtec, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and optimizing robust backend systems that power cutting-edge fintech products. Your role will involve designing scalable architectures, integrating systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build high-performance applications driving innovation in the financial services domain. You will design, develop, and maintain backend systems, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and microservices using Node.js. Implementing scalable and secure architectures using best practices in modular service design will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will build and manage messaging-based communication systems using Kafka, optimizing and tuning systems for high performance and reliability. Furthermore, designing and maintaining database schemas and queries, particularly in PostgreSQL, will be part of your daily tasks. In terms of architecture and integration, you will lead architectural discussions, contribute to system-level decisions for backend services, and ensure seamless integration with front-end applications and third-party systems. Working with containerized environments using Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes will also be within your purview. Maintaining code quality and best practices is crucial; you will be expected to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following modern development standards. Conducting thorough code reviews, providing mentorship, and offering technical guidance to junior developers will also be part of your role. Collaboration and communication will be vital as you work closely with front-end developers, product managers, and DevOps engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions. Additionally, participating in planning sessions to translate business requirements into technical deliverables will be necessary. Troubleshooting and optimization are key responsibilities as well. You will monitor and troubleshoot production systems to ensure uptime and performance, continuously identifying performance bottlenecks and applying optimizations as needed. To be successful in this role, you should have 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend development, strong proficiency in Node.js and event-driven architecture using Kafka, solid experience with PostgreSQL, and understanding of database optimization. In-depth experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture is essential, along with familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). A strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, and security best practices is required, along with a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience or interest in the fintech domain is a plus. In terms of soft skills, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, as well as the ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential.
