Senior Advisor - Process (Fixed Term Contract)

About the role:

• Lead, drive and oversee all process-related engineering aspects of the DRI plant including technology selection, process optimization, mass and energy balance validation, and inter-discipline integration.
• Oversee all aspects of the DRI plants process design, configuration, integration, and optimization.

Role & responsibilities:

• Ensure adherence to agreed schedule of deliverables
• Anticipate, flag and make mitigation plans in advance in case of schedule deviations
• Contribute towards effective and timely resolution of technical challenges arising during the course of engineering.
• Lead and review all process engineering deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, process simulations, and technical specifications.
• Ensure the selected DRI technology (e.g., MIDREX) is properly integrated with upstream and downstream facilities.
• Validate design criteria, operating parameters, and process control schemes.
• Conduct process hazard analysis (PHA), HAZOP, and operability reviews.
• Contribute in process risk assessment, Atex requirements
• Coordinate with mechanical, utility, and instrumentation & automation teams to align inter-discipline interfaces.
• Ensure process compliance with environmental regulations and efficiency targets.
• Provide expert guidance during selection of reformers, shaft furnaces, CO removal systems, recycle gas compressors, etc.
• Support commissioning strategy development and readiness planning from the process side.
• Liaise with third-party licensors, technology vendors, and engineering partners to ensure technical alignment.

Preferred candidate profile:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Minimum 30 years of experience in iron and steel or gas-based process plant engineering, with at least 10 years in DRI process design or operations.
• In-depth understanding of MIDREX, Energiron, or similar DRI technologies.
• Hands-on experience with process simulations (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and development of PFDs and P&IDs.
• Experience in process safety, commissioning, and start-up assistance.
• Strong knowledge of safety, emissions, and energy standard
• Preference will be given to retired professionals from the same background.

Contract Terms:

• Contract Duration: 2 years, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.
