Senior Accountant / Tax Associate in Kochi, India

This is an exciting opportunity to join our fast growing team in Kochi, India. The role involves handling day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and assisting with monthly closing. The ideal candidate should be proficient in accounting software (such as Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or Tally), have strong communication skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Prior experience in UAE accounting or Tax compliance is an added advantage. The position offers an excellent opportunity to gain international exposure while working in a structured, process-driven environment.

Role & responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for UAE-based clients in compliance with local regulations.
• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including posting journal entries, reconciling bank and ledger accounts, and managing accounts payable/receivable.
• Prepare monthly management reports, trial balances, and supporting schedules.
• Preparation and filing of UAE VAT returns, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with FTA regulations.
• Coordinate with the Dubai client servicing team to ensure smooth flow of information and timely delivery of outputs.
• Review and perform year-end closing including closing entries, reconciliations, perform audit support, and ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
• Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and completeness in handling client data and reports.
• Preparation and filing of corporate tax returns, including schedules and disclosures as per regulatory standards
• Support clients with corporate tax registration and amendments on the Emara Tax portal
• Supervise junior staff and ensure compliance with deadlines and procedures
• Stay updated with changes in UAE tax regulations (VAT and Corporate Tax) and accounting practices.

Preferred candidate profile

• Prior experience (5-6 years) is needed and within an Accounting / consulting firm is preferred.
• Qualifications including ACCA, CA / CA Inter, or CMA can be considered
• Working knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations is highly desirable
• Strong verbal communication skills, including proficiency in spoken English
• Excellent written communication skills including professional email correspondence and presentation skills
• Familiarity with widely used accounting software such as QuickBooks, Zoho, Tally, etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage deadlines.
