Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing financial operations, maintaining accurate accounting records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting management with financial analysis. This role plays a key part in handling inventory valuation, cost control, and financial stability specific to the jewellery industry.

Role & responsibilities

1. Accounting & Financial Management

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and ensure timely reconciliations.
  
• Handle general ledger entries and maintain accurate financial records.
  
• Process payroll, bank payments, and vendor settlements.
  

2. Inventory & Cost Accounting (Jewellery Specific)

• Track gold, diamond, and gemstone stock accurately.
  
• Manage inventory valuation based on purity, weight, wastage, and workmanship.
  
• Monitor stock movement, tagging, barcoding, and GRN entries.
  
• Conduct regular stock audits with showroom/production team.
  

3. Taxation & Compliance

• Handle GST returns, TDS, and other statutory filings.
  
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  
• Prepare documents for internal and external audits.
  

4. Budgeting & Financial Analysis

• Prepare monthly MIS reports for management review.
  
• Analyse profitability, cost trends, and overhead expenses.
  
• Support decision-making with financial forecasting and cash flow planning.
  

5. Coordination & Reporting

• Liaise with banks, auditors, vendors, and management.
  
• Coordinate with operations team regarding costing, stock, and purchase.
  
• Prepare reports on aging, credit control, and outstanding balances.
  

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong knowledge of jewellery accounting standards.
  
• Hands-on experience with Tally ERP / Zoho Books / SAP (as applicable).
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.

• B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / CA Inter preferred.
  
• Experience in jewellery/diamond industry mandatory or preferred.
