Job Description: Maintenance Technician - Melt & Pour Soap Plant Location: Pune Department: Maintenance / Engineering Reports To: Maintenance / Plant Manager Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at a Melt & Pour Soap Manufacturing and Packaging facility. The ideal candidate will be a Diploma holder in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, or Mechatronics with approximately five (5) years of practical experience in an industrial maintenance setting, preferably within the FMCG or process manufacturing sector. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliable operation of all production equipment, implementing best-practice maintenance procedures, and contributing to overall plant efficiency and productivity improvements. Key Responsibilities Maintenance and Troubleshooting Execute planned and preventive maintenance (PPM) activities on all manufacturing and packaging equipment according to established schedules and procedures. Perform quick and effective troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to minimize downtime. Service and maintain equipment related to the melt process (e.g., heating tanks, agitators, pumps, piping, temperature control systems) and soap bar forming/cutting machinery. Service and maintain various packaging machinery (e.g., wrappers, cartoners, conveyors, coders, labeling machines, shrink wrappers). Diagnose and resolve issues with PLCs, sensors, variable speed drives (VSDs), and control circuits (basic programming knowledge is a plus). Productivity and Reliability Actively participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures to prevent recurrence. Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements to enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), increase throughput, and reduce scrap/waste. Implement approved modifications or upgrades to machinery safely and effectively. Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Spare Parts and Documentation Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of critical spare parts , utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) where applicable. Track usage of spares and consumables and initiate reorder requests following established procedures. Ensure all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections are accurately documented in maintenance logs, work orders, and the CMMS. Safety and Compliance Strictly adhere to all safety protocols , including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and working at heights. Ensure all maintenance work is compliant with company quality standards, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Qualifications and Experience Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering , Electronics Engineering , Electrical Engineering , or Mechatronics . Experience: Approximately 5 years of hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery. Industry Experience (Preferred): Experience in a Process Manufacturing environment (e.g., FMCG, Food & Beverage, Chemicals, or Soap/Cosmetics). Technical Skills: Strong aptitude for both mechanical and electrical maintenance. Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs. Knowledge of industrial pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, and gearboxes. Familiarity with temperature control systems and instrumentation.
