Job Description

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:

    Provide strategic and professional leadership for the Hematopathology section, including team management, service development, and resource allocation.
  • Diagnostic Services:

    Interpret hematological specimens, including blood smears and bone marrow smears, to diagnose a wide range of hematological disorders and ensure all reports are released well within the defined turnaround time.
  • Specialized Testing:

    Utilize microscopy skills and specialized testing, such as flow cytometry, to ensure accurate reporting of hematological malignancy samples in conjunction with other departments like Cytogenetics, Molecular Diagnostics, and Histopathology, wherever required.
  • Clinical Discussion:

    Engage in proactive and detailed case discussions with clinicians, especially for hematological malignancy samples, to support accurate diagnosis and better patient management.
  • Quality Control:

    Ensure accurate testing, validation, and timely release of reports. Implement and monitor quality control measures for all tests and equipment.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    Collaborate with clinicians, other pathologists, and laboratory staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Education and Training:

    Participate in teaching activities for residents, fellows, and medical students, and contribute to continuing education for the team.
  • Research:

    May be involved in research related to hematological disorders, including developing new diagnostic methods.
  • Service Development:

    Contribute to the development and improvement of the Hematopathology service, including implementing new technologies and optimizing workflows.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO) with specialization in Pathology; board certification in Hematopathology is typically required.
    • Extensive experience in Clinical Hematopathology, including work with bone marrow, lymph node, and flow cytometry analysis. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make accurate diagnoses. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and healthcare professionals. • Proven leadership and management skills to lead and motivate a team, manage resources, and drive service improvements.
