Position Title: DGM / Sr. Manager Mechanical Maintenance (Pipe Plant) Department: Mechanical Maintenance Location: Tarapur, Maharashtra Plant: Pipe Plant Experience: 15 - 20 years (preferably in similar seamless pipe plants) Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Job Purpose: To lead and oversee the complete mechanical maintenance operations of the Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe Plant, ensuring high equipment uptime, reliability, preventive maintenance planning, and execution across critical production assets including Piercer mills, Pilger mills, annealing furnaces, straightening machines, and associated utilities. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers, technicians, and contractors for smooth functioning of the maintenance department. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all critical plant equipment. Ensure minimal downtime and quick turnaround during mechanical breakdowns, with strong root cause analysis and corrective action plans. Monitor health, wear & tear, and performance of Piercer mills, Pilger mills, cutting machines, and hydraulic systems. Optimize maintenance costs without compromising quality or safety. Plan, supervise and execute major overhauls, shutdown maintenance, and plant modifications. Maintain spare inventory planning and control for critical components and consumables. Implement continuous improvement practices (Kaizen, TPM, 5S) in the maintenance domain. Liaise with equipment OEMs, vendors, and contractors for technical support and AMC coordination. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and statutory compliance related to plant equipment. Prepare maintenance reports, downtime analysis, and present performance to senior management. Candidate Profile: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 15 - 20 years of relevant experience in maintenance of seamless pipe manufacturing units. Proven experience in handling Piercer and Pilger mill equipment is mandatory . Strong leadership and team management skills. Good knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Hands-on experience in breakdown analysis, troubleshooting, and modern maintenance systems.

Monitor NDT and hydro testing results, ensuring only defect-free products are cleared for dispatch. Implement corrective actions on quality deviations and customer complaints. Process & Equipment Management: Optimize machine settings and operating parameters for better productivity and reduced defects. Coordinate with maintenance teams for regular upkeep and servicing of finishing equipment. Ensure calibration and proper functioning of all measuring and testing instruments. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed records of production, testing, and inspection. Prepare and verify test certificates, inspection reports, and packing lists. Ensure compliance with ISO/TS certifications, customer audit requirements, and safety norms. Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of operators, inspectors, and shift engineers. Conduct regular training on product quality, customer requirements, equipment handling, and safety. Monitor workforce efficiency and resolve any shop floor issues effectively. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Enforce strict adherence to plant safety protocols. Ensure that all operations in the finishing section are compliant with environmental and safety regulations. Key Skills & Competencies: In-depth knowledge of stain-less steel pipe finishing processes and machinery. Familiarity with NDT methods (UT, ET, PMI, etc.) and hydro testing. Coordinate with the tool room for timely availability of tooling and fixtures. Manpower & Team Management: Supervise and guide a team of operators, shift engineers, and technicians. Train and upskill team members on process parameters, safety, and equipment handling. Evaluate and improve team performance through regular feedback and assessments. Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance and minimize unplanned breakdowns.
