About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced professional to join as an
SDE + Instructor Computer Networks
in our Computer Science Department. This unique dual-role position combines academic instruction with practical engineering insights. You'll be responsible for delivering engaging lectures, mentoring students, designing and running labs, and contributing to the academic excellence of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Design & Delivery: Develop, structure, and deliver high-quality course material and labs in Computer Networks.
- Hands-On Labs: Design and manage lab sessions that reinforce theoretical concepts through hands-on experience.
- Academic Mentorship: Guide, support, and mentor students in both academic and career-related areas.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with the university and Newton School stakeholders to align curriculum and student outcomes with industry needs.
- Ownership of Student Success: Take responsibility for ensuring student engagement, understanding, and overall success.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends to continuously refine teaching content and approach.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 - 4 years of hands-on experience in Computer Networks.
- Proficient in Linux/Unix commands and shell scripting.
- Clean coding practices and ability to demonstrate practical coding knowledge.
- In-depth knowledge of Operating Systems and Networking fundamentals:
? OSI & TCP/IP models ? Protocols: TCP, UDP, IP
? Firewalls, VPNs, encryption (SSL/TLS)
