Tata Chemicals Ltd. is in production of different grades of Silica such as Highly Dispersible Silica (HDS), Hydrophobic Silica. The role would focus on developing different products and formulations in Siloxanes, Silanes, Silica for various Industries including Rubber Tyre Industry. This role would focus on understanding and developing the products / formulations and implementing the production trials at pilot scale. Role and Responsibilities: TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT Detailed understanding of Chemistry in Siloxanes, Silanes and Silica. Prepare detailed reports and make presentations. Understanding the requirements of customers in products and formulations containing siloxane, silanes and silica. Understand chemical behavior and physical properties of Silica and Silanes. Prepare detailed reports and make presentations. Lab formulations of silicones from siloxanes in a variety of physical forms ranging from solids and semi-viscous pastes to liquids and oils. Detailed characterization study characteristics such as flexibility, resistance to moisture, stability, inertness, permeability to gases, etc. Formulate series of organo polysiloxanes building blocks and derivatives of silicones for product applications in emulsions, antifoams, pastes, lubricants, resins, elastomers, adhesives and coatings Expertise in handling raw materials (e.g., chlorosilanes), controlling ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of D4/D5, and adjusting reaction parameters to achieve desired molecular weight and degree of polymerization. Skilled in NMR, FTIR, GC-MS, GPC, and thermal analysis for characterizing siloxanes and monitoring polymerization processes. Process Development Scale-Up: Knowledge to design, optimize, and scale up siloxane synthesis processes while ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. Strong innovation and troubleshooting skills to develop new siloxane-based materials and applications, with a track record of successful process or product improvements. PROJECT MANAGEMENT The individual in this role will design develop new product / innovations in the area of performance materials science. Must have strong industry experience in product development by conceiving new ideas, conducting research with detailed analysis, where technical and scientific answers are needed to support new product development. He / she must facilitate fundamental understanding of the structural components and physicochemical properties of the developed materials and its varied applications. The individual in this position is to demonstrate the understanding of the basic principles of material science it s formulation to be used in applications like advanced composites, functional coatings, ultra high strength material, self-healing materials and advanced encapsulation techniques etc. Conduct laboratory experiments, tests, operates various characterization equipment in evaluation of synthesized materials. Independently demonstrate ability to deliver projects within agreed time and budget. In a project leadership capacity, the candidate is expected to plan, develop, coordinate, and execute a number of significant projects. Focus constantly on new innovation opportunities in the chosen field of research and find the quick solution to the business requirement. Preferred Skills : Convert ideas to workable concepts, and concepts to technical specifications to enable designing differentiated products and processes to meet consumer expectations within the prevailing regulatory framework. Conducting experiments, requiring understanding of basic science principles. Interpret experimental results, develop Internal systems and procedures and ensure proper documentation of all the scientific and technical work Capability to summarize experimental findings and conclude on different sets of a larger experiments At a higher level planning experiments based on the results of iterations of experiments done. Identifying and using resources wisely Greater familiarity of related work areas and capacity to suggest business process improvements. Ability and/ or experience in the preparation of non- routine and more complex experimental set up Broader knowledge of materials characterization equipment and their operations Education Experience Requirements: Education: Ph.D. with 2-4 years of relevant industrial experience, M.Tech/M.Sc with 4-5 years and above of industrial experience Subject Specialty: Materials Science, Chemical engineering, Chemistry Physics, preferably from specialty Chemical / advanced materials industry Essential Attributes: Experience with new product development for industrial products - preferably in the field of materials science specialty chemical industry Practical experience with innovation project management Strong product development abilities Great attitude forward looking individual
