Science & Technology Head (R&D)

Main Purpose of Job

'Drive the Centres S&T agenda in close collaboration with NPTC Foods and NR. Drive the

development, innovation and renovation of products/processes/systems from inception through

all stages of development. Provide strong scientific/technical guidance to team members and

support projects to deliver innovative and competitive products/processes/systems in his/her

field of activity in response to business and consumer needs (NHW 60/40+).

Optimize the transformation of relevant information coming from S&T into strategic projects or

initiatives for the business.

Ensure detailed and signed project briefs are received from the markets and projects are

created in I2L and are managed with timely stage gates and within costs. Ensure all financials

and key project timelines are updated for accurate risk assessments.

INNOVATION / RENOVATION PIPELINE:

Proactively propose and drive from S&T new ideas/projects/methods to NDC/PTC, SBUs and

Operations aligning strategy accross the organization. Build and document knowledge about

latest methods, trends and developments in relevant field of activity. Integrate basic knowledge

(or knowledge from other fields) in the interpretation of the results. Explore breakthrough

process or technology that are patentable. Lead science and technology focus areas and

related building blocks.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

Recommend, plan and deliver technical and scientific support for NDC projects as well as

common projects with other PTC/R&Ds and/or NR, and/or Markets. Lead and manage

knowledge building and business related project activities with a proactive participation. Present

results/methods in written and oral form to interested parties or visitors. Ensure End to End

projects management in I2L that are within timelines and project costs.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE:

Provide accurate and on-time support to operation with effective (quality, cost and on-time) and

sustainable solutions. Give operational support to customers, assistance in industrialization

start-ups, follow-up product launches, including technical and product improvements. Ensure

zero waste and vertical setup up.

PEOPLE AND KNOW-HOW:

Integrate Scientific, Technology, Quality and Safety and Environment knowledge into business.

Develop related tools and competencies in the domain of activity. Actively participate in expert

network to promote cross-fertilization between different sites (R&D, Org. Units) and guide

younger project team members. Mentor R&D Specialist.
