SAS Admin

You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, stability, and security of SAS analytics platforms used by cross-functional teams to deliver production analytics and reporting. Your key responsibilities will include: - Administering, installing, configuring, and upgrading SAS platform components (SAS 9.x and SAS Viya) across development, QA, and production environments. - Managing SAS Metadata Server, SAS Grid Manager, and compute tier; implementing patching, capacity planning, and performance tuning to meet SLAs. - Provisioning and managing users, groups, and security integrations (LDAP / Active Directory); enforcing role-based access and encryption policies. - Developing and maintaining backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures for SAS environments; performing regular DR tests and validation. - Automating repetitive operational tasks using scripts and configuration management; monitoring platform health and responding to incidents 24x7 as needed. - Collaborating with DBAs, infra, and data engineering teams on database connectivity, networking, and platform optimization; creating runbooks and knowledge transfer docs. Qualifications required for this role include: - Proven hands-on experience administering SAS 9.4 and/or SAS Viya in enterprise environments. - Experience managing SAS Metadata Server and SAS Grid Manager, including configuration and troubleshooting. - Strong Linux administration skills (RHEL/CentOS) and familiarity with Windows server components where applicable. - Experience integrating SAS with LDAP / Active Directory for authentication and authorization. - Proficiency with scripting for automation (Bash or Python) and experience with backup/restore and DR procedures. - Solid understanding of database connectivity with Oracle / SQL Server, networking basics, and application server components (Tomcat/WebLogic). In addition to the above qualifications, the following skills are preferred: - Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) for SAS Viya deployments. - Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible and CI/CD pipelines. - SAS platform certifications or ITIL/operations certifications that demonstrate operational excellence. You will have exposure to large-scale analytics platforms and the opportunity to work closely with enterprise analytics teams.
