Job Description

Job Title: Safety Engineer

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all relevant safety regulations and policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards.
  • Develop, implement, and review safety programs, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees on topics such as equipment handling, emergency response, and safe work practices.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, training, incident investigations, and safety reports.
  • Prepare and submit safety reports to management, detailing safety performance, risks, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety assessments of new equipment, processes, or work areas to ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Ensure that safety signage, equipment, and emergency exit routes are clearly marked and easily accessible.
  • Keep up to date with the latest safety regulations and industry best practices and apply them to the workplace.
  • Assist in the development of emergency response plans, including fire drills, first aid procedures, and evacuation plans.
  • Promote a culture of safety across all levels of the organization, encouraging staff to adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Investigate any unsafe practices or violations of safety policies and take appropriate action.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that safety considerations are integrated into all work activities and projects.


Educational Requirements:

  • Mandatory:

    • B.Tech / Diploma in Engineering
    • OR B.Sc. (PCM) with ADIS or PDIS (Advanced/Post Diploma in Industrial Safety)

  • Experience:

    • For B.Tech / Diploma holders: Minimum 8 years of experience in the engineering field.
    • For B.Sc. (PCM) holders: Minimum 5 years of relevant safety experience
    • Knowledge of OSHA standards, health and safety laws, and environmental regulations.
    • Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and investigations.

  • Certifications:

    • NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent safety certification preferred.
    • First Aid and CPR certification.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, protocols, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to train and educate employees on safety practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
  • Proficient in using safety-related software and tools (e.g., incident reporting systems, risk assessment tools).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
