Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

R&D and Process Development

  • Lead laboratory and pilot-scale research initiatives to develop and optimize NdFeB magnet production methods tailored for EV applications.
  • Apply expertise in

    powder metallurgy

    , including powder milling, alloy preparation, strip-casting, and sintering processes, to improve material quality and consistency.
  • Translate lab-scale successes into scalable pilot production processes, ensuring smooth technology transfer (TRL 4 to TRL 7) and robust process design.
  • Continuously align R&D activities with market needs, automotive standards, and company strategic goals.

Experimental Design and Execution

  • Plan, conduct, and document experiments with rigor and precision, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and adapt quickly to new technical challenges, minimizing delays and maintaining project momentum.

Materials Testing & Characterization

  • Conduct comprehensive materials testing, including:
    • Structural Analysis

      – X-ray diffraction and related techniques.
    • Mechanical Testing

      – Hardness, fracture toughness, and durability.
    • Magnetic Evaluation

      – Key magnetic properties to validate EV suitability.
  • Ensure all test results meet stringent automotive, safety, and sustainability benchmarks.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and production teams to accelerate innovation and resolve technical issues.
  • Document and communicate experimental findings clearly to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making aligned with business vision.

Team & Culture Contribution

  • Support onboarding and mentoring of new team members.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, ethical, and high-performance laboratory culture.
  • Contribute actively to HR and team initiatives by promoting safety practices, mutual respect, and knowledge sharing during team reviews.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, or related field from Tier 1 institutes/Universities.
  • Strong background in

    powder metallurgy

    with hands-on experience in:
    • Powder milling and handling
    • Alloy preparation and strip-casting
    • Sintering and densification processes for NdFeB or related magnetic materials
  • Proven expertise in structural, mechanical, and magnetic characterization techniques.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling laboratory processes to pilot or industrial levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability in fast-paced research environments.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with a commitment to safety, sustainability, and quality.
