Research Development Engineer

Job Purpose:

To design, develop, test, and improve mechanical components, prototypes, and products, ensuring innovation, quality, and cost-effectiveness as per company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1.

• Develop new mechanical products, systems, and components.
• Prepare design concepts, 3D models, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Evaluate materials, technologies, and manufacturing methods for new products.

2.

• Use CAD tools (SolidWorks / AutoCAD )for design and drafting.
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design validation.
• Improve existing designs for better performance, durability, and cost reduction.

3.

• Build and test prototypes for performance and reliability.
• Conduct testing such as load, stress, thermal, vibration, and life-cycle tests.
• Document test results and propose modifications based on findings.

4.

• Study new technologies, materials, market trends, and competitor products.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and product improvement.

5.

• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase, and Marketing teams.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, trials, and troubleshooting.

6.

• Prepare project reports, BOMs, drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Maintain R&D records and ensure compliance with standards.

7.

• Participate in value engineering, cost optimisation, and performance enhancement projects.
• Support patent documentation where applicable.

Preferred candidate profile

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• DME,B.E / B.Tech Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5–10 years experience in mechanical R&D / product development
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design,Textile Machine manufacturing processes, and engineering fundamentals.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
• Knowledge of GD&T, FEA basics, materials, and testing procedures.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
