Job Description

**Role Overview:** You will be making a leading contribution to the UKRI funded MERLIN project, working with Dr. William Peveler and the Bio-Nano Sensing group on the design, synthesis, and testing of molecular fluorophores and cavitands for constructing sensing systems. Your main focus will be on the synthesis and testing of new molecular materials for sensing steroids and other small molecule metabolites, using high throughput luminescence assays in clinical samples. Additionally, you will interface with the team, provide support in synthesis and characterisation of molecules, contribute to research publications and proposals, and help manage and direct the project. **Key Responsibilities:** - Take a leading role in planning and conducting research according to project deliverables. - Document research output, maintain records, draft reports and papers. - Establish and maintain your research profile and reputation. - Present work at conferences and seminars to enhance research profile. - Identify potential funding sources and develop proposals. - Develop and maintain collaborations with colleagues and partners. - Lead group meetings, supervise students, and contribute to teaching activities. - Keep up to date with advances in the field and engage in personal development. - Undertake any other reasonable duties as required. **Qualifications Required:** - Must hold a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) or equivalent experience. - Comprehensive knowledge of molecular design, synthesis, and characterisation methods. - Skills in synthesis and characterisation of molecules, communication, organization, and time management.
