Job Title: Regulatory & Compliance Executive – Food R&D Unit

Location: Ambattur

Department: R&D / Quality & Compliance

Reporting To: R&D Manager / QA Head

Salary : As per industry Norms

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Regulatory & Compliance Executive to support our Food Research & Development (R&D) Unit. The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of FSSAI regulations, ISO systems, licensing procedures, and both internal and external audit processes. The role ensures compliance with food safety standards, supports product registration, and maintains documentation aligned with regulatory and certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. FSSAI & Regulatory Compliance

  • Handle FSSAI registration/renewal for products, ingredients, and facilities.
  • Ensure product labels and claims meet FSSAI guidelines.
  • Coordinate with authorities and consultants for product approvals or clarifications.
  • Maintain updated knowledge on FSSAI notifications and circulars affecting R&D.

2. Licensing & Documentation

  • Apply for, track, and manage licenses and NOCs (central/state).
  • Maintain records of all food-related certifications, MSDS, and COA.
  • Prepare and submit technical dossiers or documentation to regulatory bodies.

3. Audits (Internal & External)

  • Plan and execute internal audits for food safety and process compliance.
  • Assist in preparing for external audits (e.g., ISO, FSSAI, customer audits).
  • Maintain audit checklists, CAPA reports, and non-conformance logs.

4. ISO & Food Safety Management Systems

  • Support implementation and upkeep of ISO 22000, ISO 9001, or other relevant standards.
  • Conduct training sessions on GMP, HACCP, and food safety protocols.
  • Participate in policy updates and SOP development.

5. Coordination with R&D and QA

  • Liaise with R&D teams to ensure regulatory alignment during new product development (NPD).
  • Provide input during formulation, packaging, and label finalization.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for shelf-life studies, trials, and validations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in regulatory or quality function in a food/FMCG/R&D environment.
  • Strong understanding of FSSAI rules, ISO standards, and licensing procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with audit handling and regulatory documentation.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of regulatory portals (e.g., FoSCoS, Food Licensing).
  • Familiar with technical documentation, MS Office, and data tracking.
  • Excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with government bodies and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
