Description
The Securities Master Central (SMC) is responsible for providing authoritative sources of securities indicative data to clients across the organization, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and operational processes to facilitate the collection, storage, analysis, and distribution of product, pricing, account, and corporate action data. The SMC BA team focuses on system enhancement, including the integration of vendor feeds, data model enhancements, and updates to existing data from vendors. This role may involve manual analysis of multiple data sets or the development of automated solutions, all aimed at understanding business needs and conducting data analysis. As a Business Analyst or Data Analyst with 4 to 9 years of experience, you will be responsible for data analysis of complex systems and front-to-back flows. This includes reverse engineering functional specifications from data, collaborating closely with End Users/Clients to comprehend Business Process/Industry Standards/Regulatory Mandate requirements, and working in partnership with IT and Operations teams. You will also engage with external data vendors (such as Bloomberg, Reuters, IDC, Markit) and standards organizations, executing projects independently and conducting Systems Integrated Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Additionally, you will be tasked with creating Function Specification Documents (FSD), System Requirement Specification (SRS), and test plans. To excel in this role, you must possess a strong background in financial reference data and capital markets asset classes like fixed income, equities, and derivatives. Proficiency in SQL is required for querying data, analysis, and troubleshooting, along with strong data analysis and mapping skills. Familiarity with tools like MS Excel and Visio is beneficial, and a college degree, specialized training, or equivalent work experience is expected. Being detail-oriented, having experience in business process reengineering and business modeling concepts, and understanding systems development lifecycle are essential. Strong analytical and writing skills are crucial for creating functional and technical specifications, and good communication skills with assertiveness are necessary. The ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure is vital, along with experience in SDLC methodologies like Waterfall, Agile (JIRA, etc.), and comprehensive knowledge of the Testing Lifecycle with SIT, UAT, and Production. Preferred skills for this role include experience with major vendor data providers, working closely with IT Project managers and development teams, and vendor product implementation.
