Redis and Kafka Database Administrator

You are a highly skilled Level 3 Redis and Kafka Database Administrator (DBA) sought to manage and support the real-time data infrastructure of our organization. Your expertise in managing, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems is crucial for ensuring optimal performance and availability of data services. In this role, you will collaborate closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams. As a Level 3 Redis and Kafka DBA, your responsibilities will include administering Redis clusters (standalone, sentinel, and Redis Enterprise setups), performing upgrades, patching, and capacity planning, configuring persistence and high availability, monitoring Redis performance, handling backup/recovery and disaster recovery planning, troubleshooting production issues, deploying, configuring, and maintaining Kafka clusters, monitoring Kafka performance, managing topic creation and replication, handling security configurations, supporting schema registry, troubleshooting consumer/producer lag, and acting as an escalation point for complex incidents and root cause analysis. Moreover, you will automate common DBA tasks using scripting languages such as Python and Bash, develop and maintain infrastructure as code, collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps teams, participate in on-call rotations and incident response, possess strong Linux systems administration skills, scripting knowledge, experience with monitoring tools, container orchestration, and understanding of networking concepts. The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of experience in database/infrastructure management roles, with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with both Redis and Kafka. Proficiency in Linux systems administration, strong scripting knowledge, experience with monitoring tools, container orchestration, and networking concepts are required. Additionally, certifications in Redis/Kafka/Linux, experience with Redis Enterprise and Confluent Kafka, familiarity with cloud platforms, and experience in PCI/HIPAA-compliant environments are preferred qualifications.
