At Qube Cinema, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing the state-of-the-art LED volume stage, which forms the core of the virtual production pipeline. As the Volume Head, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end operations of the LED volume stage. Your role will involve ensuring technical setup and calibration, managing on-set execution, content playback, and real-time troubleshooting. Collaboration with various teams such as Directors, DoPs, Production, VAD, and technical teams will be essential to ensure that the volume aligns with the creative vision while upholding efficiency and technical excellence. Your responsibilities will include: Stage Operations & Oversight - Supervising daily operations to guarantee technical and creative readiness for each shoot - Managing screen calibration, content playback systems, camera tracking, and real-time synchronization - Leading the volume crew, including system techs, playback operators, tracking supervisors, and media wranglers - Acting as the primary support representative for Qube with clients, vendors, and partners on the field Cross-Department Collaboration - Collaborating with the Director of Photography, Virtual Art Department (VAD), and Production Designers to optimize environments for camera and lighting - Coordinating with the Unreal Engine team for environment testing and approvals - Ensuring adherence to pre-shoot workflows in coordination with the ICVFX Supervisor and production team - Participating in client or market-specific training, calls, meetings, etc. Technical Leadership - Managing and optimizing the volume pipeline, including tracking systems, media servers, genlock/timecode sync, etc. - Maintaining a strong understanding of render performance, latency management, display configuration, and physical volume hardware - Collaborating with engineering and R&D teams for upgrades and new capabilities Planning & Scheduling - Managing shoot schedules, tech prep days, and volume resets in collaboration with Production and Line Producers - Evaluating scene complexity and ensuring all technical requirements are met - Creating and overseeing shot-specific volume configurations Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting - Monitoring output quality during rehearsals and takes; promptly addressing on-set issues - Maintaining show continuity logs and accurate records for assets, maintenance logs, and preventive maintenance - Enforcing best practices for data integrity, content versioning, and screen health Team Management & Training - Leading, training, and mentoring a team of operators and technicians - Collaborating with HR/TechOps for recruiting and onboarding volume crew - Cultivating a safe, collaborative, and high-performance on-set environment We are looking for candidates with: - 6-10 years of experience in film/TV production, including 3+ years in LED volume/virtual production leadership - Deep technical knowledge of real-time rendering, camera tracking systems, LED hardware, media servers, and timecode sync - Strong on-set experience in cinematography and lighting for LED volumes - Proven leadership skills in managing cross-functional teams in high-pressure environments - Understanding of the full virtual production pipeline and problem-solving abilities under pressure - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments and clear articulation of needs, risks, and timelines,

Game production experience and tech fluency in at least one scripting language such as Python, MEL, Unreal BP or C++. Experience optimizing 3D environments, lighting & materials with keen aptitude for visual fidelity. Should posses knowledge about Draw calls, Shader complexities, solving material-collision issues. Should know about Particle system creation and optimization techniques. Strong debugging skills, ability to fix and troubleshoot workflow issues in artist software, version control systems, and rendering issues within game engines. Experience working on AAA games as a technical artist. Experience with 3D graphics related mathematics. Passionate about gaming, well versed in modern game design techniques and best practices. Education Requirements Preferred: A BS in Computer Science or BFA or BA degree in art, design graphics, or have received equivalent on-the-job experience Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, Design Graphics, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of experience with relevant gaming art software (e.g., Zbrush, Maya, Blender) or related work experience.
