R&D Testing & Laboratory Specialist

As an R&D Testing & Laboratory Specialist at ABB, you will play a crucial role in setting up and executing routine tests for various products following standard testing methodologies and requirements. Your responsibilities will include supporting sample preparation and test execution for Low voltage switchgear products, ensuring proper documentation of test results, and collaborating with project teams from Global R&D and manufacturing plants. You will also be involved in root cause analysis and corrective actions for any observed failures during testing, as well as coordinating with internal and external labs for developmental and certification testing. Your expertise will be essential in designing and developing jigs and fixtures required for testing, maintaining equipment and tools used by the laboratory, and adhering to NABL process of ISO: 17025 standards for documentation and procedures. Additionally, you will follow HSSE norms of PPE, LOTO, material storages, and handling, ensuring proper housekeeping in the lab area. To qualify for this role, you should hold a minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering and have at least 5 years of experience in designing and testing Low voltage switchgear products such as circuit breakers and contactors. It is essential to have a good knowledge of IEC & UL standards and regulatory requirements for such products, experience in conducting electrical testing, and a strong understanding of safety requirements while operating electrical devices. You should also be familiar with working in an NABL accredited lab, conducting tests independently as per product standards, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
