Job Description

Job Summary:

The Associate Scientist in the Process Analytics lab is responsible for timely analytical support to Upstream Process Development (UPD), Downstream Process Development (DSP), and Cell Line Development (CLD) teams for biotherapeutic projects. The role involves performing various biochemical and analytical techniques to support process characterization and optimization activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute experiments using techniques such as colorimetric/spectrophotometric assays (e.g., BCA, Bradford, OD280), chromatographic methods (HPLC, UPLC SEC, IEX, RP, HIC), and electrophoretic techniques (IEF, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, Capillary Electrophoresis).
  2. Independently plan and conduct analytical experiments, interpret results, draw conclusions, and meet project timelines.
  3. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all laboratory work, data, and results in accordance with GLP and Data Integrity requirements.
  4. Prepare experimental protocols, technical reports, and presentations as per project needs.
  5. Perform instrument in-charge duties, including timely calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned laboratory instruments.
  6. Monitor and manage laboratory consumables and ensure uninterrupted analytical operations.
  7. Assist the supervisor in planning and optimizing laboratory procedures and systems.
  8. Support cross-functional project teams and contribute to process development discussions.
  9. Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and maintain a safe, compliant laboratory environment.
  10. Undertake additional responsibilities or scientific tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in biochemical assays and protein quantification (BCA, Bradford, OD280).
  • Strong hands-on experience with HPLC/UPLC systems and chromatographic techniques (SEC, IEX, RP, HIC).
  • Skilled in electrophoretic techniques such as IEF, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and Capillary Electrophoresis.
  • Familiarity with method development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of upstream and downstream bioprocess workflows.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Data Integrity compliance.
  • Good communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage lab instruments and support calibration and maintenance activities.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and instrument software (e.g., Empower, Chromeleon, LabSolutions).

Educational Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. / M.Tech in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related life science field.
