Radio Officer

Description

The Radio Officer is responsible for operating and maintaining the radio communication equipment on board vessels, ensuring effective communication in compliance with maritime regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate and maintain radio communication equipment on board vessels
• Ensure compliance with maritime communication regulations
• Monitor radio frequencies and respond to distress signals
• Maintain logs of radio communications and equipment performance
• Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of radio equipment
• Coordinate with other departments regarding communication needs
• Provide training and support to crew members on radio operations

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• 5-10 years of experience in radio operations or a related field
• Proficient in the use of VHF, MF, and HF radio equipment
• Strong understanding of maritime communication protocols and regulations
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair radio communication equipment
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Familiarity with emergency communication procedures
• Certification in radio operation and maintenance from a recognized institution
