Job Description

Key responsibilities

Cost management:
Provide cost estimates, create project budgets, and monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
Contract and tender administration:
Prepare tender and contract documents, manage contracts, and process payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
Measurement and analysis:
Conduct quantity take-offs, measure completed work, and analyze costs for materials, labor, and variations.
Risk and compliance:
Identify and assess commercial risks and ensure projects comply with legal and quality standards.
Reporting:
Provide regular budget and progress reports to stakeholders.
Client liaison:
Work with clients to understand their needs and advise on maintenance costs.

Typical qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field like engineering or quantity surveying is often required.
Professional qualifications from organizations like RICS or CIOB are sometimes necessary.
Experience with construction project costing, contract management, and relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, CostX, Primavera) is frequently needed.
