Job Description

Key responsibilities

  • Cost management:

    Provide cost estimates, create project budgets, and monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contract and tender administration:

    Prepare tender and contract documents, manage contracts, and process payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Measurement and analysis:

    Conduct quantity take-offs, measure completed work, and analyze costs for materials, labor, and variations.
  • Risk and compliance:

    Identify and assess commercial risks and ensure projects comply with legal and quality standards.
  • Reporting:

    Provide regular budget and progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Client liaison:

    Work with clients to understand their needs and advise on maintenance costs.

Typical qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field like engineering or quantity surveying is often required.
  • Professional qualifications from organizations like RICS or CIOB are sometimes necessary.
  • Experience with construction project costing, contract management, and relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, CostX, Primavera) is frequently needed.
