QA Automation Engineer (Functional)

The QA Engineer will be responsible for both functional validation and light automation scripting of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes across our Ecommerce platforms. This role supports the QA Manager and team by executing test scenarios, writing manual test cases, maintaining light automation scripts, reviewing requirements, and ensuring high-quality releases. Ideal for a candidate with foundational automation knowledge who is eager to upskill in test engineering.

Role & responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

• Perform end-to-end

  functional testing

  of web, mobile, and API features
• Design and execute

  manual test cases

  for desktop and mobile apps
• Support

  test automation

  for regression coverage (approx. 30% of time)
• Develop and maintain scripts using Java + Selenium, Appium (basic level)
• Work on

  API testing

  using tools like Postman or Rest Assured
• Collaborate with the QA lead/onsite automation engineer to expand automation coverage
• Participate in

  Agile ceremonies

  stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives
• Validate data using basic

  SQL queries

  for test data setup and verification
• Document test results, raise and track defects, and validate bug fixes
• Engage in release validation activities, including

  post-deployment smoke testing

• Be available for flexible work hours with partial

  EST time zone overlap

• Contribute to requirement reviews and test planning activities
• Gain exposure to

  CI/CD pipelines

  and

  Git

  for source/version control

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

• 2–3 years

  of experience in

  software QA/testing

• Basic experience with

  automation tools

  like Selenium, Appium, and Rest Assured
• Familiar with

  Java programming

  and understanding of object-oriented principles
• Exposure to

  BDD

  using

  Gherkin

  syntax
• Experience testing web and mobile apps in a

  multi-device environment

• Familiarity with

  test case management

  (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr)
• Exposure to

  defect tracking tools

  like JIRA
• Knowledge of

  CI/CD pipelines

  and

  Git

  is a plus
• Willingness to learn low-code/no-code automation and

  AI tools

  in testing
