Python Developer (GIS background)

As a Python Developer with a strong GIS background, you will play a crucial role in our team by developing and maintaining web-based GIS applications. Your responsibilities will include managing geospatial data workflows and utilizing geospatial Python libraries to address real-world spatial challenges. It is essential that you have experience with Django, GDAL, and other Python-based geo libraries. Your key responsibilities will involve developing, maintaining, and optimizing GIS-based web applications using Python and Django. You will work with various geospatial data formats such as Shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, and raster datasets. Additionally, you will leverage libraries like GDAL, Fiona, Shapely, Rasterio, GeoPandas, and PyProj for data processing and spatial analysis. Integration of mapping solutions and visualization tools like Leaflet.js, OpenLayers, or Folium may also be required. Creating and managing APIs for spatial data access and manipulation will be part of your role, alongside performing spatial analysis, data conversion, and coordinate system transformations. It is important that you write clean, scalable, and well-documented Python code. Collaboration with frontend developers, GIS analysts, and data engineers to implement features and resolve issues will also be essential. To excel in this role, you should demonstrate proficiency in Python with a focus on geospatial programming. Hands-on experience with Django or similar web frameworks is necessary. A strong understanding of GIS concepts, spatial databases, and coordinate reference systems is crucial. Your expertise in geospatial libraries such as GDAL/OGR, GeoPandas, Shapely, Fiona, Rasterio, and PyProj will be highly valuable. Experience with spatial databases like PostgreSQL/PostGIS is a plus.
