Purchase Manager

Objective of the Role:

To ensure timely procurement of quality materials, equipment, and services at the best value, in line with project schedules, quality standards, and regulatory requirements in the WTP/ETP/STP sector.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement Planning & Strategy

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project timelines and budgets.
  
• Coordinate with engineering, design, and project execution teams to forecast material and equipment needs.
  
• Maintain a master procurement schedule (MPS) for all ongoing and upcoming projects.
  

2. Vendor Management

• Identify, evaluate, and develop a reliable vendor base for civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation components used in WTP/ETP/STP projects.
  
• Conduct vendor audits and performance reviews to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
  
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
  

3. Purchase Operations

• Prepare and issue Request for Quotations (RFQs), Purchase Orders (POs), and Work Orders (WOs).
  
• Ensure technical and commercial evaluation of offers in coordination with technical teams.
  
• Track and monitor order status, and ensure on-time delivery to project sites or warehouses.
  

4. Cost Control & Budgeting

• Monitor procurement costs against project budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  
• Review and approve purchase orders as per authorization levels.
  
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier contracts.
  

5. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GST, pollution control norms, ISO standards).
  
• Maintain updated documentation for audits, including vendor certifications, test reports, and inspection certificates.
  

6. Logistics & Delivery Coordination

• Coordinate with logistics partners and transporters for timely and safe delivery of materials.
  
• Ensure proper handling of long lead items, imported goods, and site-specific deliveries.
  

7. Quality Assurance

• Coordinate with QA/QC and project teams for material inspection and acceptance at site or supplier facility.
  
• Ensure corrective action is taken in case of non-conformance or defects.
  

8. Inventory & Material Management Support

• Work with stores and inventory teams to track stock levels, usage rates, and reordering needs.
  
• Minimize excess inventory and material wastage at project sites.
