Position: Project In-Charge – GIS Substation (132 kV & Above)

Experience: 12–15 Years

Location: Karnataka, Project Site.

Qualification: B.Tech/B.E in Electrical Engineering (preferred)

1. Role Overview

The Project In-Charge will lead the complete execution of Erection, Testing, and Commissioning (ETC) activities for 132/33/6.6 kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) projects. The role includes full responsibility for project planning, site management, quality control, coordination with clients, OEMs, and ensuring successful and timely commissioning of all substation systems as per IEC/IS standards.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Project Planning & Execution

• Lead the complete ETC activities for 132 kV and above voltage level GIS substations.
• Prepare detailed project schedules, manpower deployment, and resource planning.
• Review technical drawings, SLDs, GA, layout, interface diagrams, and OEM manuals.
• Ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and vendor-coordinated services.

B. Erection & Installation

• Supervise erection works of

o 132 kV GIS bays

o 33 kV & 6.6 kV GIS panels

o Power transformers, auxiliary transformers, NER, surge arresters

o Control & relay panels, battery banks & chargers

o AC/DC distribution boards

· Ensure installation as per OEM guidelines, safety codes, and approved QAP.

C. Testing & Commissioning

• Lead testing of primary and secondary equipment including:

o HV equipment (GIS, CT/PT, breaker modules)

o Power transformers (ratio, vector group, IR, BDV, etc.)

o Protection relays (distance, differential, overcurrent, earth fault, busbar)

o SCADA, SAS/IEC-61850 communication

o Control circuits, interlocks, trip/alarm circuits

• Prepare FAT/SAT procedures, test reports, and commissioning documents.
• Execute cold and hot commissioning, load trials, and energization activities.

D. Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with IEC/IS standards and utility/consultant specifications.
• Implement site safety protocols (LOTO, permit-to-work, GIS gas handling safety).
• Conduct quality audits, WIR/MIR approvals, punch point closures.

E. Client & Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate with clients, consultants, OEMs, and statutory authorities.
• Lead progress review meetings and provide daily/weekly project reports.
• Manage contractual obligations, site invoicing, BOQ verification.

F. Team Leadership

• Lead and supervise site engineers, technicians, testing teams, and contractors.
• Provide technical guidance and ensure productivity and discipline at site.

3. Required Skills & Experience

• 12–15 years of hands-on experience in ETC of 132 kV and above GIS substations.
• Strong knowledge of Siemens/ABB/GE/Hyosung/Mitsubishi GIS systems.
• Expertise in SAS, IEC-61850, SCADA integration, numerical protection relays.
• Strong understanding of commissioning sequences and safety protocols.
• Ability to independently lead entire project execution as Project In-Charge.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and team-handling skills.

4. Additional Preferred Experience

• Experience in 220 kV / 400 kV GIS ETC.
• Exposure to transmission lines, underground cabling, and telecom/PLCC systems.
• Experience with utility/IPP/PSU specifications and approvals.

5. Deliverables

• Approved project schedule, method statements & QAP
• Test reports, commissioning documents, energization protocols
• Client/consultant handover documents including As-built drawings
• Safety compliance records and quality assurance documentation

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹717,948.53 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
