Project Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Technical & Engineering Responsibilities

• Review MEP designs, shop drawings, equipment selections, and method statements.
  
• Ensure all MEP works comply with project specifications, codes, and engineering standards.
  
• Conduct design coordination with consultants and resolve technical discrepancies.
  
• Verify installation details for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting, and ELV systems.
  

2. Site Execution & Supervision

• Lead and supervise day-to-day MEP installation activities on-site.
  
• Coordinate with site foremen, technicians, and subcontractors to achieve planned targets.
  
• Ensure proper installation sequence and coordination with civil and architectural works.
  
• Conduct site inspections before and during installation to ensure quality and correctness.
  
• Manage onsite MEP resources (materials, equipment, manpower).

3. Project Planning & Schedule Management

• Prepare detailed MEP work programs and track progress.
  
• Coordinate with planning engineers to align MEP schedules with overall project timelines.
  
• Identify delays, constraints, and propose corrective actions.
  
• Ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and shop drawings.

4. Material & Procurement Coordination

• Prepare MEP material take-offs (MTOs) and submit material requisitions.
  
• Evaluate product submittals, vendor proposals, and assist procurement team.
  
• Verify delivered materials against approvals and specifications.
  
• Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery of long-lead MEP equipment.

5. Quality Control & Compliance

• Implement QA/QC procedures for all MEP installations.
  
• Raise inspection requests (IRs) and coordinate with QC engineers and consultants.
  
• Ensure works comply with local authority requirements (DEWA, FEWA, ADCD, Civil Defense, etc.).
  
• Prepare snag lists and follow up on closure.

6. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

• Prepare method statements and checklists for testing & commissioning of MEP systems.
  
• Coordinate with vendors and specialists for equipment testing, balancing, calibration, etc.
  
• Supervise testing & commissioning activities for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems.
  
• Compile as-built drawings, O&M manuals, test certificates, and final handover documents.

7. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain technical logs: RFIs, submittals, drawings, material status, and progress reports.
  
• Prepare daily/weekly progress reports for the project manager.
  
• Document engineering changes, site instructions, and variations.

8. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Ensure all MEP site works are executed safely and as per HSE regulations.
  
• Participate in toolbox talks and enforce safety compliance for all MEP teams.
  
• Report unsafe practices and support implementation of risk mitigation measures.
