Project Cost Engineer

Role Summary

The Cost Run Executive is responsible for performing the complete cost run for projects in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, ensuring accurate cost estimates for materials, activities, networks, and WBS elements. The role focuses on preparing, validating, and executing costing for full project structures, identifying errors, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure cost accuracy and timely releases.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Project Cost Run

Execute full project cost estimate in SAP S/4HANA for all WBS elements and networks.

Run costing for project materials, activities, overheads, and services.

Perform standard cost estimates for all project-related materials and assemblies.

Ensure complete cost roll-up from component level to top-level WBS / project.

Identify and resolve costing errors related to:

o

BOM

o

Routing / Master Recipe

o

Network Activities

o

Work Centers

o

Procurement data

Validate cost component structures for each project.

Ensure timely release of cost estimates to support project budgeting, planning, and commercial requirements.

2. Master Data Validation for Project Costing

Check and confirm correctness of key master data required for project costing:

o

WBS structure

o

Networks & activities

o

BOM and routing

o

Activity types and cost centers

o

Procurement and service master data

Coordinate with Engineering, MM, PP, and Planning teams for data corrections.

3. Cost Accuracy Monitoring

Compare current vs previous project cost estimates and highlight abnormalities.

Validate overhead application, activity price consumption, and service costing.

Ensure all project materials and services are costing-relevant and error-free.

4. Period-End Support (Project Costing)

Support month-end activities related to project costing, including:

o

WBS cost reviews

o

Variance analysis

o

Basic settlement checks

Share project cost estimate reports with Finance/Projects teams.

5. Reporting & Documentation

Prepare complete project costing reports (planned cost, updated cost, component cost).

Maintain cost run trackers, error logs, and SOP documentation.

Provide costing status updates for internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills

Hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA Project Costing (PS Module).

Strong understanding of WBS, Networks, BOM, Routing, Activities, Activity Types.

Experience with cost run transactions such as:

o

CJ31 / CJ32 (Cost Planning)

o

CK11N (material cost estimate)

o

CK40N (mass costing)

o

CJ88 (project settlement basic knowledge)

o

CK13N (cost analysis)

Good understanding of costing integration with MM, PP, and FI.

Proficiency in Excel (cost comparison, variance analysis).
